WILL YATES
As a freelance documentary director, producer, writer and investigative researcher, I’ve spent over 20 years making content for television, film, radio and online platforms.

Working for production companies in the UK and US, I’ve produced for a multitude of primetime broadcast networks including Channel 4 (UK), BBC, Sky Arts, The National Geographic, The Travel Channel, The History Channel, PBS, HGTV, ABC (USA) and theatrical distribution.

Notable credits are researching the 2005 BAFTA- winning docu-drama, The Government Inspector, about the Iraq War and weapons inspector Dr David Kelly; series producing 3 seasons of the hit series MonsterQuest; producing/directing several episodes of A Place in the Sun and, writing/supervising story producing the true crime series, A Killer Next Door.
In addition to factual television/film, I’ve also worked for both non-profits and on branded content for major corporations. I’ve covered the spectrum writing radio pieces highlighting the work of drug/alcohol rehab center, Minnesota Teen Challenge, overseen documentary access and commissioning for Médecins sans frontières/Doctors Without Borders to facilitate awareness and drive empowered engagement in humanitarian crisis’ and, I’ve field produced/filmed a talent-led film series for Shell about the energy transition.

My journey has taken me sailing on a felucca down the Nile, down the halls of a drug resistant Tuberculosis ward in Mumbai, selling dreams on the Spanish Costa del Sol, to discussions with a serial killer, obtaining access for a presenter to fly in a Jordanian military Black Hawk and myself through a helicopter crash training course.
